1. What’s a book you read with summer vibes?
This would easily be the novel Blueberry Summer by Elisabeth Ogilvie. It’s an out-of-print paperback first published in the ‘50s and it was a contemporary novel about a girl discovering herself in her sixteenth summer. Is it fluff? Heck yes. Was it a fun fifties read? Also yes.
If you could travel anywhere this summer, where would you go?
I would probably go back to Saint George Island, Florida. It’s one of the small islands referred to as “The forgotten coast” and it has to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. It manages to mostly escape the touristy-vibes that most Florida beaches have, and that ocean view is priceless.
i took this photo with my phone while we were on the island and i don’t think i’ll ever get tired of looking at it.
What’s a poem/quote that reminds you of summer?
This is a hard one, but I think the poem My Shadow by Robert Louis Stevenson reminds me of summer. I guess I associate my shadow with bright summer days and the freedom to run around outside.
Describe your favorite summer memory.
Honestly I don’t think this photo was taken in the summer. But this picture pretty much encapsulates what summer is to me. It was taken when I was probably eight or nine years old and I feel happiness whenever I look at it.
My ideal summer is filled with…
My ideal summer is filled with fireflies, freedom, and friends.
What is your favorite summer food?
Hot dogs. Say no more.
Favorite summer activities?
I always love helping with VBS, playing sand volleyball, jamming to music outside, sitting around the firepit, and of course, setting off fireworks.
How do you usually celebrate the 4th of July?
Fireworks, friends, and family sums it up nicely. But to expound a little: we usually have a 3rd of July celebration at our house where we invite one side of the family as well as some friends to come hang out, have dinner, and light some explosives. Then on July 4th we usually spend the day with the other side of the family and have a family-focused holiday.
What’s a song that reminds you of summer?
If you know me at all, you know that music is my jam (pun totally intended). This is a hard question, but I think I’ll have to go with All Summer Long by the Beach Boys. Nothing says summer like The Beach Boys.
I do have a whole playlist solely dedicated to summer music, though; here it is if you want to check it out:
What are you most excited about this summer?
I’m really excited to spend more time with friends and build relationships. I’m reaching a time in my life that includes both more freedom and more responsibility, and I look forward to taking it all on!

“That star is called the north star. As long as you sail toward it, you’ll be sailing north. If you ever get lost at sea, Ky, and your gauges fail, you can always trust the north star to guide you to land.”
Kyle always knew his past held mysteries, but when he gets a necklace for his birthday, he realizes that his past might hold an even more sinister secret. What really happened the day his parents died? What is his adoptive mom hiding? What does the necklace have to do with a strange note he found? And how is he supposed to trust anyone when no one is as they seem? But most of all, how can he figure out the mystery of his past… before it’s too late?
Trudi Trueit’s Explorer Academy meets Jerry B. Jenkins’ Red Rock Mysteries in this exciting and heartfelt story, where secrets, spies, and danger lurk behind every corner and no one is as they seem. The first in a series of acceptance, belonging, and restoration, The Crystal Files: Mission Aquamarine targets Christian kids who have had trauma in their life and know what it’s like to be alone and have no one they can trust.
That picture from Saint George Island is GORGEOUS. <3 It seems like such a beautiful place (I love vacation places that are not overly crowded!).
So fun reading through your answers!! :)
I absolutely loved the picture from Saint George Island. That place is so pretty. I also loved the picture of you guys as kids.
